紅襪先發投手John Lackey日前影射Cruz使用禁藥，與金鶯教頭Buck Showalter掀起一場口水戰，事情鬧到《MLB Network》節目上，為此還波及到「老爹」David Ortiz，讓向來敢怒敢言的他破口大罵：「提到我名字幹嘛？我是怎樣？」

日前紅襪金鶯雙重戰第二戰，Nelson Cruz單場5支5又開轟、繳出2打點，助球隊以7比4贏球。

而先發5.1局丟5分、吞下敗投的紅襪John Lackey被問及Cruz的表現，他語帶玄機：「有些事我是滿想說，但我還是留點口德，不過你們這些傢伙也太健忘了，是否忘記某些『便利』的東西。」

Lackey此話一出，外界猜測他是在影射Cruz去年的禁藥風波、被禁賽50場一事，要大家可別忘了這件事。聽聞此消息的Showalter當然要幫子弟兵出口氣：「講別人之前，起碼要清楚自己球隊是不是也很乾淨。」

雙方隔空放話延燒到《MLB Network》，到底Showalter說的是誰？節目主持人點名老爹，這位本季扛出19轟的重砲手曾在2003年接受禁藥檢測成陽性，事後否認吃禁藥、強調是誤食用內含禁藥成分的營養補充品，並從未使用、買過類固醇。
