英國新款塑膠紙幣　恐成細菌溫床

【綜合報導】英倫銀行計劃在2016年引入新款的塑膠鈔票，先發行面額5英鎊和10英鎊的「膠幣」，並強調新鈔票更耐用並衛生，但研究人員發現，塑膠鈔票更容易成為細菌溫床。

土耳其及荷蘭的科學家最近進行了一項研究，把大腸桿菌及抗藥性金黃葡萄球菌(MRSA)等惡菌放在7種貨幣的鈔票，包括美元、歐元、加元，以及材料與「塑膠英鎊」相同的羅馬尼亞貨幣列伊。

結果發現，羅馬尼亞列伊是最「骯髒」，抗藥性金黃葡萄球菌放在羅馬尼亞列伊上的24小時後，仍能檢查到它的存在，竟然較其他任何一種貨幣多出21小時。但科學家強調，這個結果未必反映「塑膠鈔票」會為民眾帶來健康風險。
