千呼萬喚之中，在出生兩天之後，劍橋小王子終於有了名字：喬治．亞歷山大．路易（George Alexander Louis）！肯辛頓宮英國當地時間24日下午對外表示，凱特與威廉決定將他們的第一位寶寶取名為喬治，據了解，之所以取為喬治是為了向威廉的曾祖父，也是伊莉莎白女王的父親喬治六世致意。

凱特與威廉的寶寶正式頭銜為劍橋喬治王子，其實不出外界猜測，「喬治」一名一直是英國王室慣用的國王名字，打從1715年起，喬治一世登基之後，目前為止，共出了六位喬治國王，有朝一日等小王子當上國王，將成為第七位喬治國王。

一般認為，小王子取名為喬治，不僅對他們，更對伊莉莎白女王有重大意義，因為喬治六世是她深愛的父親，以喬治命名來向喬治六世致意，確實意義非凡。

相較當年威廉王子出生，查爾斯和戴安娜花了七天才取名字，這回，威廉王子動作可快多了，兩天內就想好了名字，據說，喬治這名字在凱特懷孕期間，一直是列在取名名單中的最愛。
