美國兩名參議院議員Tom Coburn和Claire McCaskill要求國會通過一項『Let Me Google That For You Act』的法案。這項法案將會裁掉美國國家技術資訊服務局（NTIS），用Google的服務取而代之。

36氪據NBC報導，參議員Coburn表示幾乎所有的NTIS文檔都可以在Google上免費查看，他認為一些機密的NTIS文件仍然可以用老辦法收集和儲存，但是沒必要保留這麼一個Agency級別的部門，只要在商務部下屬設立一個小的辦公室就可以了。

在上周四(24)的參議院聽證會上，NTIS的局長Borzino對此法案發起強烈反擊，『聯邦政府獲得的資料越來越多，保證這些資料的完整和永久公開只有NTIS才能做到』。『但是這些服務納稅人現在可以免費獲得』，參議員McCaskill說。

美國國家技術資訊服務局成立於1950年，隸屬於美國商務部，是美國公開政府科技報告的唯一法定集中收藏單位。看起來好像相當於大陸的正司局級單位。NTIS目前擁有150名公務員，每年的經費6600萬美元。局長Borzino曾經是通用動力的諮詢專家，擁有管理學和電腦科學雙碩士學位。
