日籍投手和田毅跟陳偉殷同一年加盟金鶯，不過和田毅經歷養傷跟轉隊，相隔2年多之後，改穿小熊球衣才拿下大聯盟首勝。

2011年底、2012年初金鶯先後簽下和田毅跟陳偉殷，這2位日職一軍投手，當時就被認為是即戰力的補強。

不過2012年和田毅在大聯盟1球未投，就先進行了手肘韌帶置換手術，2013年都在金鶯小聯盟出賽，今年轉隊至小熊有好表現，季中被拉上大聯盟進入先發輪值。

今天(29日)小熊以4比1擊敗落磯，和田毅先發7局僅失1分，被敲出5支安打6次三振，終於開張大聯盟生涯第1勝。

曾經在3A跟和田毅搭檔的小熊捕手John Baker說：「我真的替他感到高興，比賽結束時，你可以看到他臉上掛著笑容，然後跟隊友一一擊掌。」

「前次先發投得很糟(4局失5分)，很感謝小熊再給我機會。今天投進好球帶的能力有進步，也是第2次在主場先發，這讓我比較放鬆一點，前次真的太興奮了。」和田毅表示。
