嘉義縣為便利偏鄉交通，斥資六千多萬元新購十六部大型公車今天（30日）正式投入營運，讓嘉義縣公車處八十三輛公車的平均車齡，從原本的七點六年，下降到了五點七年，不僅減少維修費用，增加車輛安全性，更提升民眾乘車品質。

　　嘉義縣公車處新購十六輛大型公車，車體彩繪維持一貫的鮮綠色基底，並分別繪有「經濟文化」、「重陽敬老」、「老人食堂」、「行動醫療」等，與嘉義縣「田園城市」生活面向相關的美麗圖案，頗具活力創意，讓人耳目一新。

　　嘉義縣公車處表示，全新上路的公車都符合五期環保排氣標準，每輛座位數四十二人，為滿足嘉義縣老年人口比例高居全台第一的特性，每輛公車並設有多達十六個「博愛座」，提供老弱婦孺舒適的乘車空間。今天新公車啟航典禮上，嘉義縣政府並且頒獎揚表十位模範公車駕駛。
