尼克老闆James Dolan讓旗下球員、教練過個好年，宣示不做交易、不砍教練，猶如給教頭Mike Woodson一面免死金牌。

聖誕大賽慘敗的尼克隊，之後第一次練球時，老闆Dolan集合隊職員，做出上述宣示。即使目前尼克戰績僅僅9勝19敗，但老闆認為，傷兵太多，影響戰力，並不全然是教練的問題。

本季尼克的傷兵「有裡有外」，先是中鋒Tyson Chandler開季打了5場就骨折，控衛Raymond Felton鼠蹊部的傷也一直沒好，現在連一哥「甜瓜」Carmelo Anthony都受踝傷之苦，高掛免戰牌。

為了補強戰力，江湖傳言，尼克隊一直想做交易，目標瞄準暴龍控衛Kyle Lowry，不過暴龍隊開價太高，這筆交易最後沒成。尼克還用Iman Shumpert當籌碼，詢問其他隊伍意願，但也沒啥效果。

消息人士分析，老闆Dolan之所以不砍Woodson，並不是佛心來的，但砍了Woodson之後，誰來接棒？這會是另一個問題。無論是總經理助理、昔日球星Allan Houston、或是助理教練Herb Williams，似乎都不是Dolan理想的教頭接班人，才讓Woodson拿到免死金牌。
