日本山梨、靜岡兩縣在山梨縣富士吉田市召開『富士山世界文化遺產協定會』工作會議，就預定2014年夏季起收取的富士山登山費進行磋商。會議通過收費計劃概要，決定按照自願原則，向希望登上半山腰至山頂的遊客收取1000日元。

環球網據日本共同社報導，由於富士山遊客不斷增加，加之2013年6月申遺成功，兩縣開始討論收取登山費以用於環境保護和安全對策，並在夏季進行了限期試收費。

該收費舉措不具法律強制性，但將以向所有游客收費為目標，視情況作出調整。以後也可能制定收費條例，或者改為強制收費。

登山費基本為每人1000日元，但遊客也可以支付更高金額。對於兒童和殘疾人，也將要求予以合作。登山道開放期間將24小時收費，但考慮到效率和成本，還將研究除直接收費外，採取通過網路或便利店的支付方式。

山梨、靜岡兩縣將在12月下旬至2014年1月上旬在縣政府網站主頁上發布收費計劃概要，徵集群眾意見，在2014年1月22日的富士山世界文化遺產協定會上正式敲定。
