柏克萊女教授　自製毒氣自殺死

美國加州大學柏克萊分校科學教授庫斯杜(Sydney Kustu)，周二(18日)度過她71歲生日當天，在舊金山灣區伯克萊城市俱樂部酒店(Berkeley City Club)房內，用一般的化學物品混合製成毒氣疊氮化鈉(sodium azide)自殺身亡。

庫斯杜被一名女侍發現時已經死亡。她在房外留下字條，警告屋內有毒氣，酒店立即疏散住客，附近街道一度封閉，幸好未造成其他人受傷。

庫斯杜是著名美國國家科學院成員，已離婚，遺下一子。（於慶中／綜合外電報導）
