逾二百維人泰國被捕　逃避中國嚴打新疆

約235名維吾爾人周三從泰國逃往馬來西亞途中，在泰國最南部宋卡府一個橡膠農場被警方拘捕。他們大部分為婦孺，包括一名孕婦。

據指，這些維吾爾人為逃避中國政府在新疆的嚴打政策逃到泰國，希望在泰國尋求聯合國政治庇護，但在泰國未能取得幫助，所以計劃逃到大馬尋求聯合國協助。

報導指出，這些人自稱是土耳其難民，拒絕承認中國公民身份，因擔心被遣返後會面臨嚴厲懲罰。中國駐泰國大使館表示，已派人到當地核實他們身份。

美國歡迎泰國警方拘捕行動，指被捕維吾爾人可能是在泰國官員協助下偷渡，促請泰國政府調查。（國際中心／綜合外電報導）
