去年4月獲頒行政院文化獎的作曲家李泰祥，元月2日晚間8時20分在新店慈濟安寧病房病逝，享壽73歲。

行政院長江宜樺親頒獎項致詞表示，在李泰祥的作品中，「橄欖樹」是大家熟知與膾炙人口的曲子，李泰祥的音樂對每個人分別具有不同意義。

江宜樺說，他記得西元2000至2001年時，分別在英國與美國進修，當一家四口在異鄉時，慰藉自己和故鄉的最大力量，是聆聽李泰祥所出版的「中國交響世紀系列」，那幾片CD陪著他與家人度過在國外的生活，也回想起台灣的傳統民謠、流行音樂、中國的藝術歌曲、以及一些西方作品，李泰祥的作曲優美，被大家公認是天籟，更可以感受到不同世代的共同回憶。

文化部表示，李泰祥譜的曲子，傳唱整個華文世界，他用藝術的音符提升流行音樂境界，整個世代都在他的「詩樂作品」裡成長。
