田中將大獲美聯5月最佳投手

大聯盟今公布5月最佳投、打，美國聯盟最佳投手由洋基日籍投手田中將大獲得，這也是他挑戰大聯盟第1年獲得的第1個獎項，繼1995年6月道奇隊野茂英雄後，相隔19年，第1年打大聯盟就獲這項獎的日籍菜鳥球員。
 
田中將大5月成績超優，6場出賽5勝1敗、防禦率1.88，其中還包括在5月14日對大都會投出在大聯盟首場完封。
 
日籍球員在大聯盟獲單月最佳球員，加入大聯盟第1年就獲獎的是95年6月野茂英雄，相隔19年後，才又由田中獲得，野茂接著又在96年9月獲獎。非第1年球季獲獎球員，還有98年5月、99年7月洋基伊良部秀輝、2004年8月水手鈴木一朗、2007年7月洋基松井秀喜。
 
田中說：「很開心！還有其他很優秀的投手，我根本沒想過會被選上，所以聽到的時候，是那種『拿到了』的感覺。」過去他在日職，拿下最多的12次單月最佳球員，他表示，這是很難得的獎，今後也會更努力去投出可以獲得這項獎的成績。(羅惠齡／綜合報導)
