實驗突破 治阿茲海默症露曙光

（法新社巴黎10日電） 科學家今天表示，他們已研發1種藥物，有助於預防老鼠罹患普利昂病（prion disease），可能也對阿茲海默症、帕金森氏症和其他有類似機轉的腦部疾病有效。

這種藥物目前仍在非常初期的實驗階段，它能阻止腦部防禦機制中斷，以免助長神經退化性疾病。

許多嚴重而悲慘的腦部疾病，都是從腦部增長異常、萎縮的蛋白質開始。

此時大腦會啟動1種稱作「非折疊蛋白反應」（UPR）的防禦機制，來因應這般情況。

這種機制會命令組織停止製造新的蛋白質，讓情況不致惡化。

然而增生的畸形蛋白質，卻阻止這種機制關閉。

於是腦部不再製造異常蛋白質，卻也停止製造腦細胞存活所需的正常蛋白質，神經元開始死亡，且不再生成，導致病情惡化。（譯者：中央社劉文瑜）
