無臂女不放棄夢想　健美比賽獲喝采

美國上周末舉行的一場健美比賽，一名女性參賽者獲得全體觀眾起立鼓掌，不是因為她獲得冠軍獎盃，而是因為她克服了自己的障礙：失去雙臂。

37歲的湯瑪斯（Barbie Thomas）兩歲時遭電擊，手術後切除雙臂，但她以雙腳代替雙手，照樣過日子，有過3段婚姻，目前是2個孩子的單親媽媽。湯瑪斯2003年時開始健身，激起她參加健美比賽的熱情。
上周末的全美健美錦標賽，湯瑪斯雖然未獲得獎項，但自信表現贏得所有觀眾的心。她說自己從未自我設限：「我會對所有人說，只要你想做，什麼事都能做得到。唯一會設限的就是你自己，每個人多少都有極限或是障礙處，我的（障礙）只是比他人明顯。」（桂家齊／綜合外電報導）
