迎國殤日假期 紐約海灘開放、舉行飛行表演

為迎接國殤日長周末及夏天非正式來臨，康尼島等紐約地區海灘24日盛大開放迎接遊客。康尼島的賣點包括令人懷舊的木製雲霄飛車「颶風」 (Cyclone)，還有追求刺激者喜歡的垂直下落「霹靂」

(Thunderbolt)雲霄飛車。瓊斯海灘 (Jones Beach)則在24日及25日一連兩天舉行令人目不暇給的「貝斯佩吉飛行特技表演」 (Bethpage Air Show)。

康尼島海灘一向是人們中意的夏季遊樂場所，有令人懷舊的「Nathan's」熱狗和「颶風」雲霄飛車，也有新奇刺激的雲霄飛車，但更引人注目的是，引起環保爭議後補建和修理的新木板道(boardwalk) 。

不過，尋求沙灘和衝浪之樂的民眾須留意，國殤日周末應避開長島的海灘，因污水排放分流的緣故，長島納蘇郡共有6個海灘關閉，它們是：Centre Island Bay、Centre Island Sound、Soundside Beach

、West Harbor Beach、Roosevelt Beach、Laurel Hollow Beach。目前未悉何時將恢復開放。
