411民眾路過包圍中正一分局，有人認為，不該讓第一排員警不帶防衛警械去面對激動民眾，台北市長郝龍斌在《聯合報》發表「化解衝突 警盾警棍不是萬靈丹」一文說明當天考量。

郝龍斌說，當晚現場的第一排員警，確實沒有配備警盾和警棍，但站在他們身後的數排員警均帶警盾、警棍，只要民眾有任何攻擊警察行為，後面的警察就會上前護衛。他強調「強制驅離其實是處理群眾運動最不得已的手段。」當晚群眾只是叫囂，沒有進一步攻擊行為，就採取軟處理。

他強調，「警盾警棍不是萬靈丹，唯有從源頭解決政治的不安定，才能夠維護國家的長治久安。」（方翊倩／綜合報導）
