微軟自己應該也會為此感到高興。根據上月的資料顯示，IE 瀏覽器整體在全球市場上有著不錯的表現，而 IE 6 仍占有 6.1% 的市場占有率。

雖然其他瀏覽器的上月市場占有率資料少有變動，但所有版本的 IE 瀏覽器共佔據 57.79% 的市場占有率，達到本年最高。其中，由於大量存在的 Windows XP 使用者最高只能升級至 IE8，IE 8 的占有率高達 21.39%。IE8 的市場占有率在短期內應該也不會有大幅度改變。


Windows 7 和 Windows 8 適用的 IE 11 發佈指日可待。這將是微軟最新且可能是到目前為止最好的版本。對於 IE 系列早期版本，由於設計上的錯誤，微軟基本上早已放棄升級。這都是 IE 系列永遠的敗筆。

儘管 IE 8 和 IE 9 已包含一些 HTML5 功能，但 IE 6 早先的拖動 / 拖放和 @font-face 功能，是其唯一支援的半現代化網路技術。
