苗栗縣政府上午執行大埔4戶拆除作業，當年行政院長任內主持協調的吳敦義副總統18日表示，「這些拆了的，都有它的依據和道德的正當性」。
吳敦義下午出席國家磐石關懷獎章頒獎典禮受訪，在記者質疑他「說話不算話」之下，吳副回應了大埔拆屋一事。
吳敦義分別說明4戶不同的狀況，他指出，朱樹這一家，拆擋路的鐵皮屋，沒有拆掉柱子，因為拆柱子會讓房子遇到安全上的威脅；「你就可以想到，凡事都可以兼顧到情理法的，都跟劉政鴻縣長做了建議」。
他還說，另外一戶拆圍牆，沒有拆房屋；有一戶沒有完整產權，且依法抽籤到其他位置分配了。「所以這些拆了的，都有它的依據和道德的正當性」。
吳敦義強調，他曾建議能不能對張藥局深入考量、極盡溝通，「所以不要用刺激的話，我們對所有凡事能夠保障的，全都保障了」。
吳敦義進一步說，「你想，156公頃的園區，有5公頃24戶的農民，分配的農地，不但農水路灌溉都做好，連合法的房屋，有20戶都完全保障了，其中4戶有意見」。 (接下一頁)
