洪仲丘關禁閉室中暑死亡引發公憤，全民追真相，17日《台灣顧問團》現場直播時，上士范佐憲母親和胞弟親自打電話到節目中替范佐憲喊冤，還與在場來賓周玉蔻、張友驊等人唇槍舌戰，主持人敖國珠說：「節目本來就有『當事人澄清專線』，當事人願意打電話進來，我們給予尊重，我們節目就是提供一個平台讓各界有溝通的機會」。
而張友驊也是《新聞龍捲風》固定來賓，因和彭華幹提供的獨家爆料，最後都證實是事實，甚至逼得國防部數度召開記者會對外道歉，網友們更讚兩人是「驊神和幹神」果真料事如神，也讓17日的《新聞龍捲風》收視率高達1.74，贏過全日所有新聞台的收視。
為了查出真相，張友驊就說：「這兩個禮拜，我睡不到6小時，不是在收集相關資料外，就是在攝影棚錄影，我的眼睛這幾天都乾澀到不行！但只能沾個水讓眼睛濕潤後繼續錄影。」而他近來每天早上9點多出門，回到家已經半夜11點，累到他太太都心疼他身體受不了。而彭華幹最近也被操翻了，多次在節目中現場示範軍中「整人招數」，收視更直飆2.58，不少網友紛紛留言「幹神，你要撐住！繼續替我們揭開真相。」

《新聞龍捲風》的臉書粉絲團17日遭臉書以違反使用條款而被關閉，網友留言說：「新聞龍捲風連日來爆料連連，難道這是國防部的報復陰謀嗎？」，「新聞龍捲風！你們要加油，兩千三百萬人民在等真相！」節目單位重新申請新的臉書後，不到24小時加入的粉絲就將近1萬人。
