愛爾蘭閣員 首次公開出櫃

（法新社都柏林18日電） 愛爾蘭衛生部長瓦拉德卡（Leo Varadkar）今天宣布出櫃，成為愛爾蘭史上第一位公開同志身分的內閣閣員。保守天主教國家愛爾蘭預計5月針對同性婚姻合法化舉行公投。

瓦拉德卡是可能挑戰總理肯尼（Enda Kenny）、角逐中間偏左執政黨「統一黨」（Fine Gael party）黨魁的人選之一。他今天接受愛爾蘭廣播電視（RTE）訪問時出櫃。

36歲的瓦拉德卡說：「我是同性戀者，這不是秘密，但也不見得人人都知道，不過我從未公開說過這件事。」

瓦拉德卡表示，會在5月公投前造勢力挺同性婚，因此希望「誠實面對民眾」。都柏林出生的瓦拉德卡，父親來自印度，母親則是愛爾蘭人。

「愛爾蘭時報」（Irish Times）政治線記者凱利（Fiach Kelly）寫道：「高階閣員公開出櫃，這是10年前不可能發生的事。這確實是件大事。」平權團體與在野黨也對瓦拉德卡的出櫃宣告表示樂見。
