噴射氣流推一把　客機近音速飛越大西洋

英國《每日電訊報》報導，英航一班由美國紐約飛英國倫敦的客機，在大西洋上空遇到一股強勁的噴射氣流(jet stream)，令客機的飛行速度，達時速745哩(1200公里)，接近地面音速，結果客機只花5小時16分便抵達目的地。

噴射氣流是指數條環繞地球的高速氣流帶，集中對流層頂，由地球自轉及太陽熱力形成。氣流帶吹偏西風，中心風力時速可達200至300公里。民航機師若駕機由西向東飛，多會選擇飛入氣流帶以節省燃料和縮短飛行時間。

不過，此次飛行時間與1996年2月和諧式客機只花2小時52分鐘從紐約飛抵倫敦的紀錄，仍差很遠。（林奐成／綜合外電報導）
