墾丁珊瑚不受暖化影響　海綿體藏玄機

【陳亮諭／綜合報導】全球珊瑚因全球氣候暖化，陷入白化死亡危機，但墾丁珊瑚依然展現強韌生命力，引起美國學者好奇來台研究，認為珊瑚礁上的海綿體內，可能藏有玄機。

今日出版的《聯合報》報導，美國海綿博士弗里曼來台和國立海生館合力研究海綿種類和所含的共生細菌，欲找出墾丁珊瑚不受暖化影響的原因及探究該珊瑚海綿的多樣性，與體內所含共生細菌的關係，並與加勒比海海綿的共生菌做比較。海生館研究員指出，太平洋和大西洋地區的海綿，體內的菌相組成或許不同，演化出的防禦機制也盡不同，進而了解有無應用在醫療的可行性。
