蘋果亞利桑納設新廠　生產藍寶石玻璃元件

【陳智偉／綜合外電報導】蘋果（Apple）持續增加產品在美國製造生產比率，證實將在亞利桑納州開設新廠，生產蘋果產品用元件，預計包括營建、生產線及工程人員，可創造逾2000個工作機會。據彭博報導，蘋果已以5.78億美元為該廠購入生產藍寶石玻璃元件的機台設備。
 
這項消息由亞利桑納州政府率先披露，蘋果稍後也發布聲明證實。新廠位在亞利桑納梅薩（Mesa），原本由第一太陽能（First Solar）所擁有，將百分之百使用再生能源。已向GT Advanced Technologies採購的藍寶石玻璃元件設備，可生產覆於手機相機鏡頭及Home鍵的玻璃，而藍寶石玻璃也廣泛應用在手錶錶面。
