因應社會環境的變遷，傳統男追女的刻板觀念必須改變，台中市社會局9日在新市政大樓舉辦「翻轉吧！女追男」記者會，鼓勵現代女性褪去矜持的外套，主動勇敢追愛。
社會局指出，根據2013年內政統計年報顯示，全臺灣30至39歲未婚女性已逾61萬人；中華民國書香關懷協會也針對30至39歲未婚男女作問卷調查，高達78%男性希望被女性主動追求，相反的只有44%女性表示會勇敢追求男性，且表示不會主動追求的女性高達50%。女性衿持的觀念導致非自願不婚的比率增加。
社會局在記者會中導演一齣現代版牛郎織女行動劇，將原本牛郎拿走織女衣服，織女再半推半就委身相許的情節翻轉，改以現代織女偷偷牽走牛郎的老牛，並主動大聲向牛郎示愛，鼓勵現代女性也可以勇敢追求所愛的理念。
接著，社會局長王秀燕帶領一群腳踏高跟鞋、穿著嚴肅的上班女郎，脫掉代表傳統的外套，主動追求西裝筆挺男性的行動劇，劇終由副市長蔡炳坤、新聞局長石靜文一同拿著「女追男！主動求愛，褪去矜持」抱枕，鼓勵女性大聲說出：「I Love You」！
關懷協會理事長黃瑞汝表示，社會上嚴重的刻板印象，常認為男生要強一點，女生要弱一點，選擇配偶時男生要往下看，女生要往上看。台灣女性在國內無法挑選到適合的配偶時，就會導致非自願不婚。
黃瑞汝希望女性打破矜持，勇敢追求，只要找到適合自己的人即可，主動示愛，可以讓自己有更多的機會，擴大擇偶的空間。
副市長蔡炳坤則表示，俗話說男追女隔層山，女追男隔如紗。推斷原因，可能是男生追求的技巧不好或是女性比較含蓄，容易愛在心裡口難開，一旦女性打開胸襟，就可以變成女追男隔層紗。如果女性主動積極，男女朋友交往就會比較順利。
王秀燕也表示，不管男性或女性都有追求伴侶的權利，但是現今社會都是男性比較主動，所以社會局舉辦這項活動希望鼓勵女性採取行動，勇敢追求。之後會在各區開辦，將各種性別觀念讓更多市民了解。
