| 擊劍不輟 SFU學生競技大運會

【大紀元2013年07月05日訊】 幾年前的一個6年級的擊劍項目，將David Shorey帶入到這項運動中，甚至7年後升入西蒙菲莎大學（SFU）的Shorey，依舊在劍道上一路前行，將作為一名擊劍選手，前往俄羅斯參加7月6日-17日的世界大學生運動會。
19歲的Shorey來自素里，剛剛在SFU的素里校區讀完科學一年級，他說自己在學校中從來都不是運動員的料，而是典型的「一個團隊中最後選擇的一員」。但在他對擊劍項目做了一個報告後，一切都變得不同，他決定自己也去試一試。他在當地組建了一個擊劍俱樂部，開始學習擊劍技術，4年後，他在全國比賽中一舉奪魁。
「我發現自己被這項運動吸引，它有點像象棋，要計算出你的對手的運動」。Shorey將於星期三下午出發，同自己的擊劍隊友、SFU畢業生Paul Pietrusinsk一起，前往俄羅斯首都莫斯科800公里外的Kazan參賽。
Shorey曾經在多家俱樂部受訓，也曾經在Delta擊劍俱樂部擔任過教練，並且曾經代表過加拿大，2次參加世界盃比賽，成績排名居中。
他說希望這次的Kazan比賽中能取得好成績，但更大的目標是能入圍2016年奧運會，前往Rio de Janiero.參賽，「能在國際大賽中獲得經驗真的是很棒，不僅僅是競賽，而且也能看看奧運村中的生活是甚麼樣。」
Shorey從素里市Kwantlen Park中學畢業，並通過South Fraser地區科學競賽贏得了SFU的獎學金，他仍舊認為物理學是他的最愛。
這次的世界大學生運動會也被稱為夏季大學生運動會，由國際大學運動聯盟(FISU)組織，超過13,000名學生運動員參賽，加拿大代表團有330名運動員。
SFU是加拿大最頂尖的綜合類大學，也是全球校齡不足50年的大學中、最好的前50所之一。SFU在溫哥華、本拿比和素里市都有校區，開設有150門教學計畫，超過3萬名學生，並在130個國家中擁有超過12萬名畢業生。 ◇◇

【綜合報導】救命的醫生動手殺人？俄羅斯烏拉爾的一位資深醫生，替病人做完心臟導管手術後，因為連續當班24小時後身心俱疲，加上承受不了病人不斷的出言侮辱，居然出手毆打病人，不但打頭還用力打心口，結果這名45歲的男病人就這麼被打死。
這起意外發生在今年二月，但影片最近才曝光。打人的醫生沃提亞科夫(Andrey Votyakov)是醫院麻醉科和加護病房主任，他表示，當時他與其他醫療小組成員進入加護病房查看病人的情況時，這名病患沒有半點感激之情，反而不斷口出惡言，「疲勞令我崩潰，結果出手打他，我對這起意外深感遺憾，希望向死者及他的家人致歉」。
沃提亞科夫因為動手打人，已遭院方開除，警方正對他展開調查，以確定該名病人之死是否與被打有關。
