今年從勇士重新出發的王建民5日出戰大都會，中繼2局被敲3安，送出3次三振無失分，不過此戰大都會火力全開，終場以8比2贏球。

王建民在第3局、球隊領先時登板，面對10名人次，被敲2安集中在第3局，一上場遭首名打者敲出1壘安打，隨即以三振、內野滾地順利解決2名人次，2出局後又被敲1安，另投出觸身球、讓對方攻佔滿壘。

但「自己的危機自己救」，王建民穩住陣腳，投出拿手的伸卡球，最後讓打者擊出投手正面滾地球，自己親手化解危機。

4局上王建民僅被敲1支2壘安打，送出2次三振，無失分退場。

不過勇士在比賽後半沒守住領先，第6局崩盤被灌進5分，最終以2比8輸球。
