「麥德姆」颱風過境，桃園縣政府於7月22日宣佈，23日全縣停收垃圾，並透過媒體和村里廣播系統，籲請民眾，暫時將垃圾貯存家中，不要排出，更不要任意丟棄路邊。

桃園縣除部分地區電力中斷外，主要為路樹傾倒，廣告招牌，廢棄物和枝葉掉落，影響市容和交通順暢，環保局和各鄉鎮市清潔隊，為儘速恢復市容，23日上午風雨減弱時全力動員，進行環境清理， 總計清理近百噸的樹木、樹葉和垃圾，並趕在24日上班前恢復市容。

颱風侵襲期間，環保局和各公所除派員進駐災害應變中心待命，各公所則調撥暫停收運垃圾的機具和人力，全力投入環境清理作業，清潔隊員們都不計較的進行環境整理。吳縣長對各地清潔隊員們的努力和投入災後環境復原作業，表示感謝和讚賞。

環保局呼籲民眾，共同清理家戶，尤其在風災過後，更應加速環境之復原，儘速針對住家門前排水溝之樹葉或雜物，檢視和清除，避免積水狀況影響環境衛生，避免在夏季衍生傳染病。
