中國的經濟奇跡繼續令人瞠目結舌。2000年以來，年均10%的增長率使得gdp增加了三倍。這種奇跡般的復合增長意味著，中國注定會超越增長放緩的美國。作為全球廉價商品供應國，中國去年已超越美國成為全球頭號貨物貿易大國。人民幣躍居全球最常用支付貨幣第七位；2013年中國擁有2000億美元左右的經常賬戶盈余，美國則存在約400億美元的經常賬戶赤字。
