民進黨立委魏明谷今（11）日質詢，希望中央修改地制法，將法院所在地，列為鄉鎮升格為縣轄市條件之一，使得彰化員林、雲林虎尾可升格。

現行地制法規定，人口聚居達15萬人以上未滿50萬人，且工商發達、自治財源充裕、交通便利及公共設施完全之地區，得設縣轄市。

對於立委的要求，行政院長江宜樺回應說，中央考慮的不會只有員林這個個案，要看更改規定後，會有多少鄉鎮受到影響，會比較委員不同的主張。
