大聯盟投手救星　韌帶更換手術發明者辭世

俗稱湯米約翰(Tommy John)的手肘韌帶更換手術發明者喬布(Frank Jobe)醫師，昨天辭世，享壽88歲，而全世界首位接受此手術的湯米約翰說：「今天，我失去了一位偉大的朋友。」
 
湯米約翰1963年開始在大聯盟投，但1974年他助道奇隊拿下13勝之際，手肘卻出現狀況，喬布醫師在幫他檢查過後，決定採用創新且大膽的方法，就是採用患者的身上其他部位的韌帶(通常為大腿、或非投球手)移植到原本的受傷部位，由於手術非常成功，又是全球首例，因此日後此手術方式才會被稱為湯米約翰手術。
 
他在手術過後，連續投了16個球季才退休，生涯累計288勝231敗，也因為湯米約翰的成功案例，讓日後大聯盟球員，甚至其他運動員都能藉由此手術延續運動生命，我國的郭泓志、陳偉殷、王維中等強投，也都曾接受過此手術治療，郭泓志更是開過2次。(賴德剛／綜合報導)
