俄羅斯進占戰略要地克里米亞（Crimea）半島，導致與烏克蘭之間的衝突一觸即發。聯合國4日緊急派遣特使前往克里米亞，希望能和平解決分歧、展開對話。

聯合國派出特別顧問塞瑞（Rober Serry）出任特使，前往情勢最緊張的克里米亞半島，實地評估當地局勢。正在烏克蘭的聯合國常務副秘書長艾里亞森（Jan Eliasson）4日也與烏克蘭代理總統、總理、代理外交部長，以及各國駐烏克蘭外交人員會晤，希望能獲得共識，避免烏克蘭危機升級成戰爭。

聯合國發言人也表示，目前並沒有烏克蘭難民大量湧入俄羅斯邊界的情況發生。
