【王毓健／高雄報導】2014年台苯男子桌球明星邀請賽冠軍戰上演亞洲內戰，臺灣一哥莊智淵遇日本一哥水谷隼，爭奪冠軍40000美元(約119.91萬台幣)獎金。第4局莊智淵以5比11再敗，局數0比4落敗，無緣留下冠軍。
 
莊智淵開賽以拿手近台搏殺連破水谷隼2發球分，但隨後雙方相持球增加，又落入對水谷有利節奏，莊智淵連失6分。隨後水谷攻勢更主動，連近台都能回擊莊智淵，勝負就此底定。
