【王毓健／高雄報導】2014年台苯男子桌球明星邀請賽冠軍戰上演亞洲內戰，臺灣一哥莊智淵遇日本一哥水谷隼，爭奪冠軍40000美元(約119.91萬台幣)獎金。首局莊智淵以7比11落敗，局數0比1落後。
 
開局莊智淵連掉3分，隨後靠近台相持球追回2分；儘管又因失誤連丟5分，他仍鍥而不捨追近，可惜在相持中主動起板仍難突破水谷穩健表現，因此告負。
