博通推Bluetooth Smart晶片

【台北訊，2013年12月16日】無線通訊晶片大廠博通（Broadcom）宣布旗下的嵌入式無線網路連結裝置（Wireless Internet Connectivity for Embedded Devices，WICED）將新增一款Bluetooth® Smart系統單晶片（SoC），以因應快速成長的穿戴式裝置與物聯網市場需求，該產品已進入送樣階段。
 
博通表示，此款新晶片具備符合無線充電聯盟（A4WP）標準的無線充電技術，可幫助物聯網生態圈激發出更多的創新應用，同時標榜高整合度與小巧外型，可降低穿戴式裝置的耗電量，進而延長電池續航力。
 
同時並搭載ARM® Cortex M3處理器，有助於OEM廠商提供進階應用，並達到比其他競爭產品更低的成本與耗電量。
 
ABI市場研究機構市場情報資深分析師Joshua Flood表示，未來幾年，穿戴式運算裝置將在人類生命中佔有重要地位。ABI預估，2013年與2018年穿戴式裝置出貨量將分別達到5000萬與5億4000萬台，使用者參與度也會提高。Bluetooth Smart技術將扮演重要角色，讓裝置在持續運作的同時兼顧最佳電池效能。
