龍捲風狂襲 美家園面目全非

（路透伊利諾州華盛頓市18日電）威力強大龍捲風昨天狂掃伊利諾州華盛頓市，許多民房毀於一旦，家園面目全非。市長馬尼爾（Gary Manier）表示，得以倖存的民眾，大概有9成都是躲在地下室避難。

馬尼爾說，他和許多市民在教堂時聽到龍捲風警報。他說：「我想90%倖存民眾，大概都是到地下室尋求掩護，或是在教堂。」 馬尼爾說：「感謝上帝，我們的社區聽從避難建議，並保持警覺。」 災區建築成了斷坦殘壁，當局憂心民眾撿拾家當時受傷，特別禁止民眾開車入災區。 不過民眾還是騎著腳踏車或徒步挺進家園，希望收拾自己的物品，並幫助鄰居。 華盛頓市社區高中美式足球隊隊員史密斯（TannerSmith）協助救難，他說：「這太瘋狂了，你穿過生活了一輩子的城鎮，但你根本認不清自己身在何方。」 43歲莫利賽（Chris Morrissey）說：「親人還活著，這是最好的結果。」中央社（翻譯）
