由於美國原油庫存激增，加上美元對歐元匯率升值，抑制投資人需求，使1日紐約西德州中級原油12月期貨跌破每桶95美元，是今年6月來最低點；倫敦布侖特油價也跌到7月來最低價。

美國油價已連四周收低，是一年多來最長跌勢。能源資訊局指出，原油供給量已連續第六周增加；上周美國原油庫存量增加409萬桶，為3.839億桶，是6月來最高水平。目前美國原油產量已經達到每天785萬桶，是1989年來最高產量。

同時歐元區面臨通貨緊縮，外匯市場猜測歐洲央行可能會降低利率以刺激成長，也使美元對歐元匯率連續第五天升值。

西德州12月期貨每桶下跌1.77美元，為每桶96.41美元，是6月21日來最低收盤價。一周來油價下跌3.3%，一個月來下跌5.8%。

倫敦布侖特12月期貨油價每桶更重挫2.93美元（跌幅2.7%），以每桶105.71美元做收，是7月4日來最低收盤價。

芝加哥價格期貨集團資深分析師傅雷恩表示，「供給面因素壓倒一切。原油供給充裕，市場進入破底走勢；同時美元對歐元升值也打壓油價，市場極度看空。」
