【王毓健／綜合報導】2013~14年英格蘭超級聯賽(Premier League)今起展開首輪角逐，傳統豪門利物浦(Liverpool FC)開幕戰1比0力克斯托克城(Stoke City FC)，為走出上季低迷踢出好彩頭。
 
進球功臣是9月1日要滿24歲的英格蘭新秀前鋒斯圖瑞吉(Daniel Sturridge)。本季各國球員在職業聯賽表現，將會大幅左右入選明年世界盃足球賽各國國家隊機率，斯圖瑞吉為球隊建功同時，也替自己爭取三獅軍團席次，踏出令人印象深刻的一步。
