【短片】遭誤認百年　浣熊科現最小新物種

【綜合報導】被誤認長達一百年，現在終於驗明正身，美國史密森尼學會(Smithsonian)科學家周四發表研究報告顯示，這個半貓半熊的棕色動物，長期以來都被誤認為是犬浣熊(olingo)，但實際上和犬浣熊相比，牠的牙齒、耳朵和頭顱比較小，尾巴也較短，臉型較圓潤，毛髮顏色比較深，科學家稱牠為小型犬浣熊(olinguito)。
 
小型犬浣熊是浣熊科中體型最小的，平均身高35公分體重約900克，主要以水果維生，屬夜行性動物，棲息在北安地斯山脈、厄瓜多爾和哥倫比亞的森林中。
