高雄氣爆發生至今已超過1天，但氣爆的震撼威力，以及造成的死傷人數和受損嚴重的街道，持續讓外媒關心注意，大家也想知道爆炸的原因為何。

英國《BBC》今日就以「管線爆炸 台灣人驚魂未定」為題，為整起高雄氣爆事件始末做一總整理，並引述多位目擊者形容爆炸發生當時，宛如地震或炸彈攻擊。報導也引述高雄市政府的說法，稱在地底下的管線，有很多都已有20~30年，不排除是管線老舊造成爆炸。但報導也指出，台灣位於多震地帶，許多居民開始擔心，管線在多次受到震動之後，可能會遭到損害，進而導致破裂和爆炸。

此外，日本《富士電視台》也派出特派記者，前往高雄氣爆現場採訪報導，並在夜間時段製作高雄氣爆深度報導。日本《TBS》新聞台也同樣製作深度新聞，報導高雄氣爆，並稱現場驗出高濃度丙烯，疑似是埋在地下的石化管線破裂，引發氣爆。（施旖婕／綜合外電報導）
