美股週一開高，由於投資人樂觀解讀製造業、營建支出等數據利多，加上日本製造業同日亦初露曙光，因此激勵道瓊、標普500、與NASDAQ指數終場收高，其中工業、原物料等與宏觀經濟相關性高之循環性類股上漲力道最強勁，電信、公用事業等防禦性類股則走低。
 
嘉實XQ全球贏家報價系統顯示，道瓊工業平均指數當日漲0.44%(65.36點)至14974.96點；NASDAQ指數漲0.92%(31.24點)至3434.49點；標準普爾500指數漲0.54%(8.68點)至1614.96點；費城半導體指數跌0.15%(0.7點)至467.73點。

截至2013上半年止，標普500指數累計上漲13%，為自1998年以來同期最佳表現，當時標普500指數上升17%。

美國供應管理協會(ISM)1日公佈，6月份製造業採購經理人指數(PMI)自前月的49回升至50.9，高於路透社調查預估的50.5。另一份報告顯示，美國5月份營建支出年率較前月成長0.5%至8,749億美元，為逾三年新高。

據日本央行公佈季度企業短期經濟觀測，6月份大型製造業信心指數自3月的負8躍升至正4，不僅優於彭博社調查預估的正3，且為自2011年9月以來首度出現正值。

象徵市場恐慌情緒的芝加哥期交所(CBOE)VIX指數下滑2.9%至16.37。不過，第二季VIX指數共上升33%，創2011年第三季以來最大漲幅。

Onyx製藥飆升51%至131.33美元。彭博社引述知情人士消息指出，自Amgen今年6月傳出有意以每股120美元併購Onyx以來，目前至少又有兩家企業加入戰局。

蘋果勁揚3.2%至409.22美元，主因Raymond James投資銀行將蘋果投資等級由「優於大盤」調升至「強力買進」，並重申目標價為600美元不變。析師Tavis McCourt表示，隨著智慧型手機晶片應用日益普及，相關經濟圈由手機、平板電腦擴展至汽車、電視等領域，蘋果將會是最大的受惠者。

線上音樂服務業者Pandora上漲3%至18.95美元。摩根史坦利調升該公司投資等級至「優於大盤」，認為網告收益將逐漸由傳統電台流向數位平台上。

電動車開發商Tesla Motors大漲9.2%至117.18美元，主因Jefferies投資銀行將該公司投資目標價由美股70美元調升至130美元。

新聞集團News Corp下挫3%至14.79美元，該公司上週已與梅鐸(Rupert Murdoch)的媒體集團分拆，成為獨立企業。

電子零售商Best Buy大漲8.8%，主因瑞士信貸將該公司投資評等調高至「優於大盤」，相當於買進，且看好股價未來12個月內可站上40美元價位。

【綜合報導】英國男子斯梅斯特（Darrell Simester）2000年誤信一群愛爾蘭遊客之言，跟隨他們到威爾斯一個農場打工，沒想到一去就是13年，而且每天工作12小時，年終無休沒有薪水，連生病也不准去看醫生。

斯梅斯特多年來住在老鼠亂竄的農舍，在馬槽洗澡，但他害怕雇主報復，從來不敢逃走。

在打工的前八年，他還每半年打電話回家報平安，說自己在愛爾蘭，但之後就音訊全無。父母擔心報警，在臉書上發布尋兒消息，都沒有任何回應，直到今年2月，他們接到消息，認出斯梅斯特在威爾斯一個農場工作，才找回身體虛弱的兒子。

現年43歲的斯梅斯特被奴役多年，他說多年來與世隔絕，猶如囚犯，慘無人道。

【簡銘柱、楊忠翰╱台北報導】台北車站站前Kmall廣場，昨傍晚下班人潮洶湧之際發生驚悚跳樓案，一名男子破壞25樓的窗戶後一躍而下，撞破8樓的採光罩後當場慘死，破碎腦漿還灑向1樓人來人往的廣場，有不少民眾遭到波及，碎塊還被不知情的民眾踩過去，現場民眾說：「實在太可怕了，大鬧區還會被人的腦漿潑到，太恐怖了。」

目擊者向警方說，當時看到男子坐在窗戶旁，似乎還在考慮要不要跳，還來不及上前阻止他就跳下去了，該男子墜落到8樓，撞破一家補習班的採光罩後掉落儲藏室，到處是飛濺的鮮血，還好當時補習班內沒有學生上課。 

警方調查，蘇姓男子（36歲）昨在Kmall廣場搭電梯到25樓後，破壞電梯旁的窗戶安全鎖螺絲，在破壞過程中疑似有受傷，窗戶旁還留下一攤血，未發現遺書。家屬昨晚向警方說，蘇男前幾年做生意失敗後，從此意志消沉，出現憂鬱症傾向，也沒有外出找工作，沒想到他會跳樓結束自己生命。
