馬總統過境紐約第二天，前往911遺址參訪是第一個公開行程，由於前一天有綠僑示威抗議，911遺址又是開放空間，因此保安格外謹慎，除了國安局隨扈，包括國務院外交安全局幹員、紐約市警察等數十人將馬總統團團圍住，由於當地遊客眾多，因此現場一度十分混亂。
馬總統從一早離開下榻的索菲特（sofitel）旅館後，一路上都有零星的抗議民眾隨行。外國元首在公眾場合活動，也讓負責維安的美國務院外安局及紐約市警局神經緊繃，並出動防爆警察進行安檢。
總統在參訪911前，紐約一度下起小雨，隨行人員及維安因此都帶著雨傘，在馬總統傾身細看刻在911紀念碑上罹難華人的名字時，因中外媒體太過緊貼採訪，美國在台協會主席薄瑞光甚至一度拿起雨傘幫忙擋記者。馬總統在聽取紀念館人員解說過程中，表情嚴肅，不時深鎖眉頭，憑弔當年在這起恐怖攻擊中的罹難者。

【綜合報導】國內智慧型手機大廠宏達電（hTC）今年營運陷入困境，面對強敵蘋果、三星甚至中國的機海戰術，為力搏翻身，公司昨證實已邀好萊塢巨星、電影《鋼鐵人》男主角小勞勃道尼擔任2年品牌代言人，傳代言費近1200萬美元（約3.6億台幣），首波5至6支廣告在台灣時間8月15日網路開播，盼藉小勞勃道尼高人氣，提振hTC手機買氣。
小勞勃道尼扮演「鋼鐵人」風靡全球，知名度更高，代言hTC平均1年收1.8億元台幣，算是很有人情味的價碼。資深廣告人范可欽說：「小勞勃道尼是國際巨星，知名度夠，加上電影《鋼鐵人》又這麼好看，話題性夠，會吸引大家的注意。」

| 四平商圈老闆娘拋繡球 學童搶接幫宅叔找女友

【郭美瑜／台北報導】今是七夕情人節，以販賣女性服飾為主的四平陽光商圈下午舉辦拋繡球活動，由8位未婚老闆娘拋繡球，接到繡球的男士今晚可與老闆娘約會，吸引路人及逛街的民眾參與，搶到繡球者還包括國小學童，說是要幫「叔叔」覓佳人，在場民眾則笑說「幼齒也來了」。
現年25歲、販賣土耳其飾品的老闆娘楊小姐下午參加拋繡球，她表示，平時店面營業到晚上8點，顧客又以女性為主，男友難找，今天本想拋繡球找到有緣人，可惜是小朋友接到；接到繡球的小朋友則說，是幫叔叔找女友。
路人顏先生則在台下伺機而動，並順利搶到繡球，他開心地說，沒女友，用餐路過，看到沒人搶接就上場，「女主角還不錯，賺到了」。

| 《商品期貨》陸期市延續漲勢，滬銀漲近5%

大陸商品期貨市場13日延續漲勢，金屬品全面走揚。滬銀昨日大漲逾5%、今日續漲4.81%，為連續第四個交易日上漲；滬金續漲1.7%，螺紋鋼續漲1.5%。化工品亦全面收漲，焦炭昨日漲停、今日續漲逾3%，焦煤昨日漲停、今日續漲逾2%，滬膠、乙烯、PTA漲逾1%。農產品昨日表現平穩、今日多數上漲，油脂類表現強勢，棕櫚油漲逾3%，豆粕、豆油、菜油、菜粕漲逾2%，豆一、豆二漲逾1%。
金屬品中，滬銅1311合約漲0.13%，滬鋁1310合約漲0.21%，滬鋅1311合約漲0.03%，滬鉛1309合約漲0.88%，黃金1312合約漲1.69%，白銀1312合約漲4.81%，螺紋鋼1401合約漲1.51%。
化工品中，橡膠1401合約漲1.72%，PVC1401合約漲0.66%，乙烯1401合約漲1.40%，焦炭1401合約漲3.40%，焦煤1401合約漲2.44%，PTA1401合約漲1.38%，甲醇1309合約漲0.36%，玻璃1401合約漲0.42%。
農產品中，棉花1401合約漲0.35%，白糖1401合約漲0.84%，豆一1401合約漲1.48%，豆二1401合約漲1.07%，豆粕1401合約漲2.79%，豆油1401合約漲2.76%，棕櫚油1401合約漲3.34%，菜油1401合約漲2.82%，菜籽1309合約漲0.52%，菜粕1401合約漲2.63%，玉米1401合約漲0.09%，強麥1309合約跌0.26%，早秈稻1401合約漲0.97%。

【戴安瑋／台北報導】北市府日前啟動「黃項圈防疫計畫」，要幫打過狂犬病疫苗的流浪狗戴上黃色項圈作為辯識符號，但動保團體「台灣動物緊急救援小組」今秀出多張照片警告，給流浪狗戴上項圈存在很大的風險，擔心會成為狗狗的緊箍咒。
緊急救援小組表示，項圈長期磨擦狗兒的頸部可能造成潰爛，尤其對正在成長中的流浪幼犬來說，若無機會再次調整項圈鬆緊度，狗長大後項圈可能會陷入肌肉組織中造成潰爛，成了「緊箍咒」，呼籲北市府重新評估「黃項圈防疫計畫」的風險。 該小組建議，可用噴漆的方式代替掛上項圈。

斗六警分局公正派出所日前傍晚許接獲民眾反應，於斗六市大學路一段疑似有迷途老婦於該處徘徊，警員李重興收到值班員警無線電呼叫後，立即前往並將該名老婦帶回派出所查證身分。
警方查詢後，發現該楊姓老婦人是民國6年出生的高齡已屆97歲，老婦人只知道自己住在斗六市榮譽路，無法說出正確的住址，警方在多方查詢後，查得老婦人正確住址後，將老婦人平安護送返家。
老婦人家屬表示，老婦人雖然年近百歲，但還行動自如，平時會在家附近散步運動，沒想到今天外出散步走太遠了，才會找不到回家的路，很感謝熱心的民眾及警方相助，才避免老婦人流露街頭。
公正派出所所長楊清山向其家屬建議，為防止老婦人走失時找不到回家的路，請將該老婦人之資料及聯絡電話隨時放在其身上，或是到分局做指紋捺印建檔工作，若再發生走失之事件，警方即可快速找到家屬。

【許麗珍／台北報導】今是七夕情人節，貓纜開放300對穿著情侶裝成雙成對的男女旅客免費搭貓纜。住在三峽一早5時就出門的情侶謝振揚、余毓澄，7時就到貓纜，是第一對來排隊的情侶，指南宮特別贈送他們同心鎖，小倆口一起鎖上同心鎖。統計有245對情侶來免費搭乘。
指 南宮與北市大地處合辦情人節活動，今上午8:30至11:30提供300對情侶從貓纜動物園站至指南宮站免費搭乘來回票以及300份祈福卡，招待情侶旅客 攜手搭貓纜過七夕情人節。貓纜指南宮站旁，位在指南宮後山山頂的情人聖地，因視野佳，又設有戀人平台與同心鎖，主辦單位布置浪漫汽球，情侶在此拍照。
