【綜合報導】美國50個城市數以千計的速食店員工、約1千間麥當勞、漢堡王、肯德基、必勝客的員工，周四(29日)響應號召舉行聯合大罷工，爭取將最低時薪增加一倍，達到15美元(約台幣450元)。

紐約、芝加哥、底特律等地，共有約1千家麥當勞(McDonald's)、漢堡王(Burger King)、肯德基(Kentucky Fry Chicken)、必勝客(Pizza Hut)等快餐店員工都參與了罷工示威。主辦單位表示，這次堪稱速食店業界歷來最大規模的罷工，活動同時爭取籌組工會但不被秋後算帳的權利。

【綜合報導】一名美國國防部官員29日透露，美國已增派第五艘驅逐艦「斯托特號」（USS Stout）前往地中海馳援，預料是為了應付美國未來空襲敘利亞的軍事行動。
 
官員表示，斯托特驅逐艦已抵達地中海，「向東航行」。美國目前已有四艘驅逐艦在同一區域，包括「格萊夫利號」（USS Gravely）、「馬漢號」（USS Mahan）、「巴里號」（USS Barry）、「拉梅奇號」（USS Ramage）。

【台灣醒報記者劉運綜合報導】研究指出，地球所有的生命都來自火星！美國地球化學家最近表示，構成生命的重要元素「鉬」與「硼」30億年前並不存在於地球，但存在於火星。科學家因此推論，透過火山爆發或撞擊，來自火星的隕石將這2種元素送至地球，讓生命在地球形成。

美國維斯海默科技學院地球化學教授本納指出，鉬是將有機物質轉化為第一個生命體的催化劑。他說，構成生命的環境今日仍然存在於火星上。

「鉬只有在高度氧化的情況下才能影響生命的形成。」但是30億年前地球的含氧量極低，因此並不存在這種形式的鉬。換句話說，當生命形成時，地球並不存在高度氧化的鉬。本納教授因而推論，地球原本並不具備形成生命的條件，而是火星的隕石將生命「賜給了地球」。

「硼」是構成生命的另外一種重要元素。但是地球在30億年前幾乎完全被海洋所覆蓋，高含量的硼無法形成，原因是硼通常只存在於乾地。火星過去雖然也有水存在，但是其面積比地球小許多。所以，本納教授推論，構成生命的重要元素硼，也是來自火星。

「似乎愈來愈多的證據指出，我們都是『火星人』；生命是源於火星，並透過隕石來到地球。」本納教授說：「但很幸運的，我們生活在這裡，因為地球很明顯是兩個星球中比較能維持生命的地方。」他說：「如果我們假想中的火星祖先待在火星上，可能生命的故事早就終止了。」

本納教授近日在美國地球科學學會和歐洲地球科學協會舉辦的年度「歌德施密特大會」上，發表其研究成果。

【賴宇萍╱綜合外電報導】因舉辦1年1度的蕃茄節而聞名的西班牙布諾鎮（Bunol），由於債務高達500萬歐元（約2億元台幣），本屆活動首次向參加民眾收取了報名費至少10歐元（400元台幣），一改過去可免費參與蕃茄大戰的慣例。

今年約有2萬人參與這次的蕃茄大戰。在開戰前，遊客每人需先繳納至少10歐元才能參戰，如果想要加大攻擊火力，可以繳納750歐元（3萬元台幣），即可站在裝滿蕃茄的卡車上，對下面的民眾發動攻勢。不過當地居民無需繳費。

【綜合報導】嘉義水患成災，其中新港鄉南崙村水淹1人高，截至晚間積水仍未退，50名村民被救出安置鄉公所，部分災民家中1樓淹水，受困家中2樓，義消搭橡皮艇到災區，分送上百個便當給災民。

《壹電視》報導，災民表示如果搜救總隊沒有送便當，今晚就要挨餓了。南崙村村長表示今早11點多就淹水，是10、20年來該處最嚴重的水災，疑似大排水溝阻塞造成。
