【李菁豪／高雄報導】提供軍事援助，一向是國際之間維繫兩國邦交最直接誠懇的外交表現。以往德國、俄國和美國都曾派軍事顧問團到中華民國協助建軍，維持兩國外交，其中最著名的就是1930年前後，德國希特勒（Adolf Hitler）軍援中華民國蔣介石。上個月，台灣為維繫從1995年重新建交的非洲甘比亞共和國（Republic of The Gambia）外交情誼，派出軍事顧問團，遠赴甘比亞，協助建軍，昨天在甘比亞舉辦軍事特訓開訓典禮，今天開始展開為期8週的軍事特訓。

去年4月，中華民國總統馬英九出國訪問甘比亞，甘比亞總統賈梅（Yahya Jammeh）向馬英九表示，除了派遣甘比亞軍方人員到台灣的國防大學、陸軍軍官學校等軍事院校學習軍事之外，也希望台灣能派遣1個軍事顧問團到甘比亞，協助指導建軍，增強部隊戰力。

經過1年多的籌劃準備，上個月底，台灣派遣1個軍事顧問團，遠赴甘比亞協助軍事訓練，昨天在甘比亞軍事訓練中心舉辦軍事特訓開訓典禮，除台灣軍事顧問團和甘比亞軍方高層出席之外，中華民國駐甘比亞大使陳士良也到場致詞，同時引用中國兵聖孫武《孫子兵法》的名言「知彼知己者，百戰不殆；不知彼而知己，一勝一負；不知彼，不知己，每戰必殆」，勉勵在場受訓的75名甘比亞軍官。

由台灣軍事顧問團協助指導的甘比亞軍事特訓，從今天開始，為期8週，先經過3週初步訓練，淘汰25人，剩下的50人才有資格進行最後5週的完整特訓。參加受訓的75名甘比亞軍官當中，不少人先前都曾經到過台灣高雄鳳山陸軍軍官學校就讀學軍事，台灣軍事顧問團成員看到直說，「看到他們在自己國家的表現，真替他們高興。」對於台灣軍事顧問團的新聞，甘比亞當地媒體《觀察家日報》大肆報導。（http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/75-gaf-personnel-commence-special-training）
